Muscat – Registration of the Omani French Friendship Association (OFFA) with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) was celebrated on Sunday.
Speaking at an event held at Crowne Plaza Muscat, H E Roland Dubertrand, Ambassador of France to Oman, said, “We thank Sayyid Badr bin Hamad bin Hamoud al Busaidi, secretary general, MoFA and H E Yousuf bin Alawi bin Abdullah, Minister Responsible for Foreign Affairs, for this decision which gives OFFA legal status in the country.”
He added, “We found that the economic cooperation could be enhanced between the two countries. Our entrepreneurs now have an official platform to meet and work together. We would also like to particularly thank Hind Bahwan for being the chairperson of OFFA.” H E Dubertrand spoke about the annual €500-€600mn trade between the two countries and announced that French investment in Oman has already reached €1.2bn.


He explained that OFFA would facilitate investment between the two nations. Hind highlighted the goals and objectives of the association. “Under the guidance of the French Embassy in Oman, OFFA has been initiated as a non-profit organisation dedicated to strengthening the Omani-French relationship through the promotion and development of trade and economy as well as enhancing social and cultural exchanges between the two countries. OFFA aims to provide a platform that promotes business cooperations and strengthens friendly ties between the business and social communities present in France and the sultanate,” she said.
She added, “We are extremely honoured to have H H Sayyid Tarik bin Shabib al Said and H E Ahmed Macki as honorary members of the association.”
